Practical ICT Capacity Building in Ghana

The changing trend in technology and the working environment requires the upgrade of one’s ICT skills to be effective. PCN ICT organised a 3-day workshop, the 7th in a series of workshops, to bring workers up to speed on trends in web development and systems administration. After the awareness creation sessions, Harold Ntorinkansah Jnr an experienced web developer, and Richard Akumiah, an expert programmer led participants in a free practical training on how to build professional websites using a content management system and how to administer an office IT system over a Linux platform.

Over 150 Participants from Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, Ghana Revenue Authority, Ministry of Employment, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Multinational organisations and local businesses were selected to benefit from this timely initiative by Mr Abdul Rahman Sarumi, group MD.

Talking to the press the Center Manager, Prince Kpasra said ICT training in Ghana should focus on what Ghana needs in the offices & homes, practical results-oriented technological skill development that could save time, cost and protect our information assets.

Mr Kpasra mentioned that developments like Mobile Learning, Ubiquitous learning, Social Media Growth, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud computing, Digitization, Internet of Things, Online payments and Cyber Security make it paramount for continues training. This is why PCN ICT focuses on relevant practical training with a global perspective.

The Deputy Head of IT Department of the Ministry of Education, Caesar William Sowah personally commended the MD and the Center for it bold initiative to bridge the IT training gap and for establishing an ultra-modern lab in Ghana.
